Driving licence examination

The medical report for the driver's license is prepared by an appointed expert general practitioner or by a public health officer.

Your own family doctor, even if he is an expert doctor, is not allowed to perform the examination.

What is examined during the driver's license examination?

  • Medical history review

  • Overall impression (motor skills, facial expressions, gestures, coordination and language skills)

  • size and weight

  • Hearing test

  • Cardiovascular monitoring (blood pressure and pulse measurement)

  • Mobility of the extremities (especially through squats, lateral movement of the arms, gripping function of both hands)

  • Check for tremor (muscle shaking)

How long does the examination take?

The medical examination usually only takes a few minutes.

What is needed?

  • Official photo ID (not a student ID)

  • Eyeglass wearers: Glasses, additionally - for group 2 - eyeglass prescription from an optician (eyeglass prescription) - must not be older than 6 months.

  • Contact lens wearer: Contact lenses, case and cleaning solution
    (If you wear either glasses or contact lenses, please bring both with you! Please come to the appointment wearing your glasses. Your vision will first be checked with your glasses, then with your contact lenses.)

  • Completed questionnaire

35 Euro Group 1: Motor vehicles of classes AM, A(A1, A2), B, BE and F

50 Euro Group 2: Motor vehicles of categories C(C1), CE(C1E), D(D1) and DE(D1E)

30 Euro extensions (C, D)
